The Much Coveted Watts Program
Most exercise bikes today don't have watts programs but are one of the best ways to exercise. How? Why? Basically a watt is a unit of energy. For example, a light globe may be a 20 watt globe. So it uses 20 watts per hour of use. When you cycle you are actually producing power. The Revolution Plus Exercise Bike can measure how much energy (watts) you are producing as you exercise. You can then set the amount of watts you want to produce. If you set 50 watts, the computer will measure how many watts you are producing and actually help you to produce more power. It does this by constantly making adjustments to the resistance. So, lets say you want to produce 50 watts of power (for a good workout). the computer will monitor this. If you fall behind and are only producing 40 watts of power, the computer will automatically increase the resistance - until you reach your goal of 50 watts. Also, if you are going too fast or producing too much watts the computer will measure this also, and reduce the amount of resistance until the watts comes down.
This process is continually monitored during your workout - much like a personal trainer, and actually helps maintain a constant training session where you can't 'cheat' during your workout. The end result is greater fitness gains and weight loss.
